PMS
Auricular acupressure effectively increases parasympathetic activity to maintain autonomic function homeostasis in young women with dysmenorrhea (a.k.a. period pain) and may have a value in alleviating menstrual pain and menstrual distress in a high-stress life.
Dots Application:
For best results use one protocol at a time to give the body a clear message.
Ideally use on one ear and when removing the beads after 5 to 7 days apply to the other ear. This ensures that the ear beads do not cause irritation to the skin (which can happen with continuous use over a given point).
Press the beads for 30 to 60 seconds several times a day to stimulate the point.
What the points do:
Shen Men: considered a Master Point, it is used with many other ear points for a variety of reasons including anxiety, stress, depression, insomnia, pain, addiction and detoxification. Some acupuncture practitioners describe Shen Men as one of the most calming and relaxing ear point and use it with all ear point treatments!
Zigong: in Chinese Medicine Zigong refers to the Uterus, or “Palace of the Child”.
Sympathetic: helps to regulate the sympathetic nervous system; this point is useful to help combat stress and to promote sense of calm. It is also useful where immune system modulation might be needed, and in the presence of inflammation.
Liver: in Chinese Medicine, the Liver stores Blood and promotes the smooth flow of Qi; PMS are often linked to Qi stagnation because the Liver energy is constrained.
Endocrine: regulates the endocrine system hence useful for balancing hormones.
Irritability: this point can be used if the PMS symptoms are accompanied by irritability.
